how we're utilizing our leftover fabric

Updated: Oct 3, 2020

Waste is a massive issue within the fashion industry and occurs throughout the entire supply chain. Of all materials in the supply chain, an average of 35% will end up as waste before a garment reaches the consumer. While some of this waste is difficult to avoid, there are ways in which we can minimise the amount of fabric and materials that end up in landfill.

At Fabricaé, we will be utilising our leftover fabric by, wherever possible, turning our offcuts into scrunchies and headbands that you can purchase from our store. This way we can minimise our material waste and provide you with some accessories to match our other items. Either match the fabrics of the accessories to the top or have some fun mixing patterns and colours to create new outfits.

We encourage you to have a similar mindset when it comes to discarding unwanted items from your wardrobes. 57% of all discarded clothing ends up in landfill. Instead of throwing out your old clothes and sending them to landfill, have a think about upcycling them or donating them to a second-hand store if sewing isn’t for you.
